1. Kaori Sakamoto LP
2. Kaori Sakamoto SP
3. (tie) Satoko Miyahara LP, Sofia S LP, Marin Honda SP
Thanks to Kaori's beautiful perfomances, I now appreciate Charlotte Church and "The Piano" much more than I did before.
(Well - I still won't be watching the movie anytime soon, but the soundtrack is A-OK)
1) Julian Yee's SP (I'm a new fan!)
2) Satoko Miyahara's SP (and FS....she was just brilliant)
3) Marin Honda's SP (such a shame she couldn't keep it together in the free)
Honorable mentions to Kaori (both performances), Sofia (both performances), and Polina's criminally underscored short program
Also, Megan Wessenberg was a nice surprise!
The entire women's competition made me remember why I used to love them so much. It was anything BUT boring. And it was a genuine pleasure to see programs with high technical content that weren't JUST about that. It really was a very very pleasant surprise.
Three is not enough, but if I have to...
...bearing in mind I still haven't seen the gala vids yet!
1. The Men's competition where a crazy amount of stumbles and falls were offset by beautiful performances (especially FS) by the top finishers.
2. Efimova/Korovin - what a wonderful (and well deserved) surprise
3. Tarasova/Morozov - I like them anyway, but I'm glad to read that some people give Vladimir some more credit now.
Special shout-outs:
1. The audience - absolutely up for it, fantastic!!!
2. Jimmy Ma's SP show - so sad, it didn't end on a better note for him.
but i have already rewatched a lot of programs, like Mcnamara/Carpenter's FD, Guignard/Fabbri's FD ( :yes2: ), Tarasova/Morozov's FP, Hase/Seegert's SP, Chen's FP, Rizzo's SP, Yee's SP, Zhou's programs (UR aside), Honda's SP ( :sad21: ) and Tennel's FS.
I really liked Hase/Seegert in the pairs sp, I loved Alaine Chartrands FS.. its the first time shes skated clean in an even fs in ..I dont even know how long. She needed that so badly, I loved seeing her skate well and I also must say Sakamoto's entire event. A+++
