I'm yet to find what the prize for our predictions are. Just moving to the FS if we place above the cutout? But then what comes next!?
What a funny contest about who's going to hit the correct score for men's SP cut at Worlds!
So I did a little research and these are the numbers passing the qualifications for FS in the past 10 Worlds.
2007 Andrei LUTAI RUS 59.37
2008 Abzal RAKIMGALIEV KAZ 51.58 - lowest
2009 Przemyslaw DOMANSKI POL 57.00
2010 Alexandr KAZAKOV BLR 54.24
2011 Kim LUCINE MON 58.81
2012 Javier RAYA ESP 57.22
2013 Yakov GODOROZHA UKR 61.88 - first 60s at Worlds
2014 Abzal RAKIMGALIEV KAZ 61.77
2015 June Hyoung LEE KOR 64.51
2016 Ivan PAVLOV UKR 65.20 - highest
Given the general inflation and pre-Olympic Worlds, I think the Q mark is gonna be given to skaters over 66-67.
My number is 67.2!
<-------------------------------------My magic unicorn tells me 64.37
Maybe I should revise my too optimistic guess.
i thought mine was too optimistic as well... but keep in mind that there has been so much inflation since sochi... when we consider that the juniors, to qualify, almost all needed a 3A, (no quads allowed) I don't see many men without a 3A making the final... so already, we are at a certain scoring level...then, several men will do two quads... etc
So I am thinking that our relatively big numbers imply that the qualifiers deliver as they do have that scoring potential

I spent way too much time looking at the scores of each world Championship since 2005, trying to project where next year's cutoff is likely to be. In the end, I decided to go with 67.78... which puts me awfully close to a bunch of other people.
You are much more generous than me. I did the same research as you, and came to the general same conclusion as you... but I didn't share it.
Thank you for playing.
