Team Italy are on their way, according to the photos shared by the FISG:



Travelling with them is their mascot from 2021 World Team Trophy, a cuddly bear named Italo! (seen in the 4th photo above with Daniel Grassl).

• Matteo R is currently studying computer science at the University of Trento.
• Daniel would like to land a quint and hopes to event a new spin position which could be named after him. His skating heroes are Patrick Chan and Jason Brown!
• Charlene's sporting heroes are Meryl Davis/Charlie White. She and Marco knew they were meant to skate together after just 2 hours of tryout!

I also learned from the 'Celebrating 2022's Gay Olympians' thread that Filippo has come out!

Looking forward to cheering for Team Italy in the team event, as well as for all the Italian skaters in their individual events!

Come on Daniel and Lara, put out a clean short! I want to see Matteo's free in the Team Event!

i'm going to miss this entirely so i'm entrusting you with my children

A solid 3 events for Team Italy with a great cheering squad in the team box too!

Daniel did a great job placing 5th in quite a stacked men's event, his 4Lz was a little scratchy (and got a q) but he kept his focus and landed a good combo and 3A

Charlène and Marco did an awesome RD, getting a SB, the highest tech score in the event (with kpYYYY) and placing 3rd in front of Gilles/Poirier! Charlène's reaction to this/their score was adorable

Nicole and Matteo had trouble on the sbs jumps and the throw, but the twist looked more secure and their lifts are always strong. Hope they can go clean in the individual event

Whether or not the Team qualify for the free all comes down to the women's event on Sunday. I hope Lara can deliver a performance that she is proud of and enjoys her experience of the Games. Then, we'll just see who places where...

I had a great time spotting the Italian skaters in the opening ceremony, it looked like the whole team was there! I'm really glad they got a chance to experience an opening ceremony, especially those athletes for whom this their first games!

Matteo was in the cheer box, so i guess they'll split men. i hope he doesn't bomb...i also hope Lara can finally deliver the good skate she's capable of. how many teams will make the free?

Only 5 teams make the free, so it's going to be tight between Italy, Canada, Georgia and China for the last 2 spots! It's all up to the women now. I hope Lara doesn't feel the pressure and goes out, lays down a skate she can feel proud of and just enjoys her Olympic experience. Go Lara!

Glad to see they all had a great time! Despite having been to the Olympics before, this was the first time Charlène, Marco and Matteo R. had been to an opening ceremony.
